The State of Bavaria Montreal Office promotes the cooperation between Bavaria and Quebec in fostering exchanges and collaboration on economic, scientific, technological, political, cultural, education and society levels. Bavaria and Quebec have been maintaining their cooperation since 1989, and have initiated more than 600 common projects.
How we help in Bavaria:
Companies and business people
We inform and advise Bavarian companies and business people who want to do business in Canada, assist them in their efforts to develop this export market, and help establish their distribution networks by providing contacts on-site contacts in the search for appropriate industrial and commercial partners. In cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, we organize economic, scientific and technological delegation trips exploring the Quebec and Canadian market. Get in touch with us to discuss your project!
Bavarian scientists can take advantage of our support to establish and maintain research partnerships with Quebec and Alberta. The Bavarian Office for Research Coordination (Dr. Florence Gauzy), helps scientists and graduate students from higher education institutions in Bavaria, and fosters research collaboration – as opposed to individual research – based on a reciprocity principle.
In order to support cross-cultural projects, we help cultural institutions in Quebec and Canada to find potential partners or address their requests to the right authorities in Bavaria. Long-term cultural exchange projects are being spearheaded and further developed by their respective project partners. The support for cultural cooperation projects is based on the principle of reciprocity, meaning that one Bavarian and one Québec partner must be involved. As an interested cultural institution, you are welcome to present your project any time!
Cultural institutions from Bavaria looking for a Québec partner should also contact the Délégation générale du Québec à Munich.
The Bavaria-Quebec cooperation has seen several student exchange programs and funding opportunities set up over the course of its existence. Usually these are managed locally by third party institutions. On this page, you can read more about some of the specific programs offered.
If you wish to apply for an internship at our office, you'll find further information here.
How we help in Canada
We inform Canadian companies about the Bavarian economy and its various sectors, and support their efforts to develop strategic alliances and industrial cooperations with Bavarian counterparts. In close collaboration with Invest in Bavaria, we assist potential investors in view of an establishment in Bavaria. We can help prepare a program, organize meetings with local authorities, professional associations and chambers of commerce and make contact with potential partner companies in Bavaria.
To gain an overview of the economic, commercial and industrial landscape in Bavaria, Bayern International, an affiliate of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, has developed a database of Bavarian companies in all sectors, called Key Technologies in Bavaria. Users can search detailed information about approximately 20,000 companies, research, technology transfer and network management institutes, as well as technical authorities and other professional organizations. The research languages are German and English.
Quebec companies, business people, scientists or cultural institutions can take advantage of the services offered by the Délégation générale du Québec à Munich in their endeavours.
