MUNICH / BERLIN - On March 2nd, 2010, the Bavarian High-tech Electronics cluster located in Nuremberg received the award 'Competence Network 2010' on German federal scale. Bavarian State Secretary of Economics Katja Hessel: "I congratulate the Bavarian High-tech Electronics cluster upon receiving this award. This demonstrates the excellency of Bavarian clusters even on a federal level and illustrates that Metropolitan Nuremberg is one of the best high-tech locations of Germany." The outputs of this Cluster are especially important considering the fact that high-tech electronics play a key role when it comes to energy savings.
The High-tech Electronics cluster received their award at the annual meeting of the 'Competence Networks of Germany' Initiative in Berlin from the parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics, Hans-Joachim Otto. The Initiative comprises eight additional Bavarian Clusters and one hundred of Germany's most innovative and high-capacity technological Competence Networks. Already in 2009 the Initiative had distinguished another Bavarian cluster – the Sensorics cluster.
The High-tech Electronics cluster is administered by the ECPE (European Center for Power Electronics) located in Nuremberg. This industry-oriented research network unites 40 member companies and 55 university and research institutions from all over Europe.
