Organized by the German Community Québec, the 2nd German Christmas Market will take place at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 31 rue des Jardins, December 4 to 6. The State of Bavaria Quebec Office will be there to offer visitors bites of traditional German Christmas gingerbread, homemade spiced hot wine, as well as introduce them to the tradition of the Wish Tree. » Full text

A delegation of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation made up of seven Members of the Bavarian Landtag (Parliament) and the Bundestag (German Parliament) will visit Montreal and Ottawa from April 5 to 8. This visit will be organized by the Political Liaison Office of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Washington, which is also responsible for Canadian politics. The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation is a non-profit foundation close to the CSU political party (Christian Social Union). » Full text

The State of Bavaria Quebec Office has a new director. As of now, Mr. Daniel Curio will be in charge of promoting the relations between Bavaria and Quebec. Trained as a jurist, he previously held the position of Deputy Head of Division Asia/Pacific, Tradefairs at the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transportation, Infrastructure and Technology, more specifically that of Advisor responsible for the Bavarian partnership with the Chinese province of Shandong. » Full text

The Christmas market, organized by the German Community in Quebec, was astonishment in itself. From December 4th to 6th nearly 20,000 enthusiastic people discovered this German holiday tradition as they strolled down the little wooden house street built especially for this purpose in the shade of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Old Québec. The State of Bavaria Quebec Office held free tastings of typical holiday preparations: over 80 L of homemade "Glühwein" (hot spice wine) and almost 30 kgs of especially imported Nürnberger Elisenlebkuchen, the world famous German gingerbread offered visitors a glimpse into culinary and tasty traditions of Bavaria.
