A young Bavarian baritone is performing in Montreal on the occasion of a German Lieder evening on November 14 at 8 P.M. at the Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur

As part of the 15th edition of the "Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques" Program, a young Bavarian baritone, Mr. Julian Orlishausen, will perform on November 14 at 8 P.M. on the occasion of a German Lieder evening. The concert will be presented under the honorary co-chairmanship of Mr. Jörg Metger, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montreal and Mr. Axel Ströhlein, Director of the State of Bavaria Quebec Office. During this evening, guest artists from Germany, Canada, South Korea, France and Japan will enthuse you with the sound of the most beautiful melodies by Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert and Strauss. » Full text

42 Bavarian Projects picked by Innovation Initiative ‘365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas’

42 Bavarian projects convinced the jury of the nationwide innovation initiative ‘365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas’ and have been nominated as ‘Selected landmarks for 2009’. They are being announced today in Berlin. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, underlined: “It is fantastic that such a large number of “Selected landmarks” are once again coming from Bavaria in 2009. The State of Bavaria has again managed to convince the jury with its creativity and innovative strength in a wide variety of sectors. I am particularly delighted that many projects from the important fields of environment and energy have been distinguished for their trailblazing character.” From the perspective of the Bavarian business community, it was good to see that small and medium-sized companies in particular had one more time impressively underscored their role as the motor driving Bavarian industry with many innovative projects. » Full text

Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil at the opening of the Military Air Systems Center in Manching

The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, welcomed the bundling of German aviation activities in Manching at the opening of the new EADS Center for Military Air Systems. “Concentrating the activities of military air systems at the site in Manching strengthens Bavaria’s leading role in the aerospace industry. The aerospace sector is growing throughout the world and is a technology powerhouse for practically every industrial sector. EADS has set up a competence center that gives Manching a competitive edge in global competition”, commented Zeil. » Full text

Economics Minister Zeil and Science Minister Heubisch visit Leibniz Supercomputing Centre

The Minister of Science, Wolfgang Heubisch, and Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, have underscored in Garching the importance of the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities to the research and business location of Bavaria. “Besides its indispensable role as a supercomputing centre for the whole of the Munich region, the Leibniz centre operates a high-performance computer of world-class standard. This computer is one of the high-tech flagship projects, to which we intend to give a new boost during this legislative period”, the Ministers commented. » Full text
